Roles: Lead, Product designer, Design Ops

As part of the Automattic theme team, I worked on various themes and focused on theme user experience. I was also involved in default WordPress themes. I was a full-time WordPress contributor for many years, focusing on the editor Gutenberg.

I also had a role within Design Ops as this practice was brought to Automattic for design producers.

Roles: Lead, designer, developer, core committer

I was the design lead for the project’s first phase and continued to work on this project for several years during my time at Automattic and after. This was codenamed Gutenberg.

One of the projects I worked on within the editing experience of WordPress after the initial release was global styles, which allowed anyone to create styling without having to know code.

I continue to be a contributor, committer and sponsored part of this project.

Roles: Full stack developer and product design contract

Worked as a full-stack developer on enterprise projects. I also mentored the design team in a contract role, and when I left, I returned with a product design-focused contract.

I also created a Gutenberg and WordPress learning course that was used after my time within this company.

Roles: Product Design

Worked as a product designer focusing on their editor at GitBook. Continued my passion for editing experiences by working on this documentation application.

Roles: Leading design

Worked as a contractor and then set the foundations to grow the agency’s design team. I worked on enterprise projects and ended by leading design for some time before passing on to the person I was growing into in my role through mentorship.

I also help with hiring and advise on design operation processes. I created a Learn Gutenberg course and learning materials that all engineering hires follow, along with informing them about the new editor.

Roles: Head of design

Worked as the Head of design at Extendify, I worked on the initial experience for this startup which looks to extend WordPress, enabling more to access it. The screenshot is a work in progress of the browsing interface.

Whilst at Extendify, I worked on all visuals including their library of unique templates, patterns and styles. I also originated their automatic template creation system.

Roles: Usability testing and advisor

Ran a series of usability tests for Mastodon.social and created report from that of recommendations.

Advisor for Upfocus on their user experience direction, creating their design team foundation, practices and supporting as they move to look to the first round of investment.
